Record the nail length, wire diameter, shank profile, point, collation angle, coil count and finish used on each production line. Add the nailer make and model. A complete specification lets purchasing compare equivalent supply quickly without asking production to reconstruct requirements during a shortage.
Set reorder points from actual consumption
Track weekly coil usage, supplier lead time and the highest expected production rate. A practical reorder point includes demand during lead time plus a buffer for schedule changes. Review the number after seasonal peaks, new pallet contracts or equipment changes.
Qualify alternatives before they are urgent
Run controlled fastening trials before approving a substitute. Confirm feeding, drive depth, withdrawal performance and wood splitting on the species and thicknesses used in production. Keep the approved alternate and test notes with the purchasing record.
