A buyer-focused look at manual film, machine film, load stability and reducing emergency packaging shortages.

Separate hand and machine demand

Hand film and machine film serve different workflows and should have separate item numbers, usage histories and reorder points. Combining them in one estimate can hide a shortage on the busiest wrapping line.

Track output, not only rolls

Compare film by wrapped loads, load stability and damage outcomes instead of roll price alone. Gauge, pre-stretch, equipment settings and operator technique can change how many pallets a roll covers.

Protect the replenishment buffer

Use supplier lead time, average consumption and peak demand to set a minimum stock level. Count partial rolls consistently and review the buffer whenever shipment volume or wrapping equipment changes.
